SAVE THE DATE – 26th Swiss Global Change Day
The Swiss Global Change Day is the annual event organised by ProClim where well-known experts present challenges and highlights of climate and global change research covering a broad range of topics. It is also an opportunity to present research results through posters and to discuss them with colleagues. The most attractive and comprehensive posters submitted by students and postdocs will be honoured with a travel award of 1000 francs.

IPCC: Call for Experts to Review the First Order Draft of the Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-lived Climate Forcers
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is looking for experts to participate in the expert review of the First Order Draft (FOD) of the Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-lived Climate Forcers (MR SLCF). Registration is open until 13 February 2026.
COP30 in Belém: Checking in with… Géraldine Pflieger
Last week, the 30th United Nations Climate Change Change Conference (COP30) took place in Belém, Brasil. Amongst the official Swiss delegation was Géraldine Pflieger, representing the scientific perspective. She is a is a professor of urban and environmental policy at the University of Geneva. After the conference, we were to get a short scientific assessment of what was – or was not – decided at COP30.

IPCC: Call for Authors and Review Editors for the IPCC Methodology Report on CDR Technologies, CCUS for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (Additional guidance)
The IPCC is looking for Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, and Review Editors for the IPCC Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (Additional guidance). The deadline for nomination is 3 December 2025.

Already over 1000 signatories
Experts from science, journalism, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations are calling for a change of course in climate communication. At the K3 Congress in Graz 2024, a call for signatures was launched. In addition to 80 prominent initial signatories, around 1,034 people have already joined.

La Suisse ne se réchauffe pas partout de la même manière
Le réchauffement important observé en Suisse au cours des dernières décennies n'est pas le même à toutes les altitudes. De nouvelles analyses de MétéoSuisse montrent qu'en automne et en hiver, le Plateau s'est réchauffé plus que la moyenne en raison d'une diminution du brouillard, tandis qu'au printemps, les altitudes moyennes se sont réchauffées un peu plus en raison de la fonte plus rapide des neiges. Certaines séries de données climatiques largement utilisées ne reflètent pas suffisamment ces différences.
